The 17-year-old broke his leg and ribs in the fall on a farm in Dumfries and Galloway.
A teenage boy has been rescued after suffering serious injuries when he fell into a gorge.
Moffat Mountain Rescue team was called to the scene on a farm near Sanquhar, Dumfries and Galloway, shortly before 3am on Thursday.
A rescue helicopter from Prestwick lifted four members of the team to the location along with technical rescue equipment.
Upon arrival, they found the 17-year-old boy trapped in a hard to reach location behind a dense line of trees. He had a broken leg and fractured ribs.
The team lowered a stretcher down to the casualty as a paramedic and ambulance personnel attended to his injuries.
The stretcher was then raised up and the teenager was flown to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.
James Coles, deputy team leader of Moffat Mountain Rescue team, said "The casualty was in a difficult to access area in a steep gorge.
"The extraction of the casualty involved setting up rope systems to protect the stretcher and the team for a tricky rescue in the dark.
"The team worked with personnel from Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and the rescue helicopter to achieve a safe rescue of the casualty. We hope he makes a speedy recovery in hospital"
