Copper memorial tree for stillborn babies vandalised
The memorial garden charity tree was unveiled by Celtic player Kris Commons' partner Lisa Hague.
A copper memorial tree for stillborn babies has been vandalised, weeks after being unveiled by Celtic player Kris Commons' partner.
The memory tree in the grounds of Provan Hall in Glasgow was unveiled on August 20 by Lisa Hague for charity SiMBA, which supports families who have lost a baby.
Each leaf on the copper tree symbolises a baby and there were plans was for more to be added in the future.
Vandals entered the memorial garden on Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday and snapped a large branch off the tree. Police have launched a probe in the incident.
Ms Hague, a SiMBA ambassador, and Commons lost their baby girl Lola eight years ago.
She gave birth just hours after she discovered that her baby's heart had stopped beating.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "The incident was not reported to Police Scotland but it has been established that an incident of alleged vandalism occurred at Provan Hall memorial garden.
"Inquiries are continuing in order to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
