Teenagers out of hospital after 'thrown' from fairground ride
Five youngsters suffered various injuries after incident near Ayr Racecourse.
Five teenagers have been released from hospital without serious injury after reportedly being thrown from a fairground ride in Ayr.
The incident took place on Saturday at a funfair near to where the Scottish International Airshow took place at Ayr Racecourse.
It was not the fairground in operation at the airshow.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.30pm and treated five teenagers. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, and three girls, aged 14, 15 and 16, were taken to Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals for treatment.
The 16-year-old boy was treated for several broken ribs, while the 16-year-old girl was treated for a facial injury and a fractured wrist.
The other three teenagers were treated for minor injuries, and all five have since been released.
Police secured the area following the incident and remain at the scene.
Chief inspector Brian Shaw said: "This was a frightening experience for those involved and those who witnessed last night's incident at the fairground.
"Thankfully nobody was seriously injured and enquiries are underway to establish what exactly has happened here.
"The ride affected remains closed and cordoned off whilst the joint investigation is underway. Other unaffected rides reopen later this morning following a safety inspection.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed last night's incident and is yet to speak to police to get in touch as any information about what happened could assist with our investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
According to reports people were thrown off the Move It Tagada ride at the funfair after it broke.
In June ten people were injured after a roller coaster crashed at M&D theme park at Strathclyde Park.
