A man has been charged after a toddler fell from the window of a flat.

The two-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he plunged from the window in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, last week.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the incident in Kirkwood Street at around 4.15pm on Tuesday, August 23.

The toddler was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition is understood to be stable.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and a man has now been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident."

She said a report has been made to the procurator fiscal.
