FAI after woman killed by lorry that ploughed into her home
Catherine Bonner, 55, died after the HGV crashed into her house in North Ayrshire in 2013.
A fatal accident inquiry will be held after a woman was killed by a lorry that ploughed into her home.
Catherine Bonner died after the HGV carrying coal collided with her house on the A78 in North Ayrshire.
Lorry driver George Marshall was reported by police to the procurator fiscal for causing the death of the 55-year-old by dangerous driving after the crash in Fairlie, near Largs, on Valentine's Day in 2013.
The Crown Office decided last year it would not be pursuing the case further.
A spokesman for the service said: "After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, Crown counsel instructed that on the basis of the evidence currently available, no further criminal proceedings should be taken at this time.
"Inquiries are ongoing, and a fatal accident inquiry into the incident will be held in due course. We will continue to keep the family of Catherine Bonner advised of any developments in the case."
On Monday, dates for the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Ms Bonner's death were confirmed.
A preliminary hearing will take place on September 20, with the full fatal accident inquiry due to begin at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on January 9 next year.
After her death, residents in Ms Bonner's village began the Fairlie Safe Roads and Pavement Campaign, which has lobbied the Scottish Government for safety improvements on the A78.
