A man has been arrested after a woman was struck by a car near a supermarket.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident happened on Renfrew's Anne Avenue outside the Aldi supermarket at around 5.40am and police and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after.

The woman's injuries are believed to be minor. A 25-year-old man has been arrested over the collision.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said a man was arrested and detained in custody and is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.
