Trains cancelled as temperatures get too hot for tracks
The hot summer weather has led to speed restrictions on line between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Trains have been cancelled in central Scotland as high temperatures affect rails.
Speed restrictions meant other services were delayed as temperatures soared to 24C on Tuesday afternoon in near unbroken sunshine.
Services Between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Shotts were affected. The disruption is expected to last until the end of the day.
A ScotRail spokeswoman said: "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by this disruption.
"Due to the high temperatures experienced today, as a safety precaution, we have imposed a speed restriction which is affecting services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts."
Rail lines can expand under high temperatures, creating a risk of the track buckling.
