A motorcyclist has died after being thrown from his bike on a Glasgow street.

His motorbike is believed to have clipped a car travelling in the same direction on Albert Drive, close to its junction with Matilda Road, in Pollokshields.

The emergency services were called but the man died at the scene shortly after 8.15pm on Thursday.

The driver of the Ford Galaxy which collided with his motorbike was uninjured.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At about 8.15pm on Thursday, a motorcycle travelling east on Albert Drive appears to have clipped the side of a Ford Galaxy also travelling east, resulting in the rider being thrown from the bike.

"Emergency services attended but the man, who was in his 30s, died at the scene."

Anyone with any information about the crash has been asked to contact police on 101.
