A driver escaped uninjured after his car plunged down an embankment.

The one-vehicle crash happened on Wednesday morning on a main road near Cargenbridge in Dumfries and Galloway.

The driver of the car lost control before the vehicles came off the road, rolled down an embankment and crashed into a field at the side of the road.

Emergency services attended the scene on the A711 but the man was uninjured.

A spokesman for Police Scotland: "Around 9.20am on the A711 near Cargenbridge, police were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash in which a car left the road and rolled down an embankment before coming to a stop in a field. The male driver was uninjured."
