The death of a man who was discovered in a lane in Lanarkshire is not suspicious, say police.

Officers were called to Newmains near Wishaw in North Lanarksh_re_ on Monday afternoon when they found a man lying dead in an alley at around 1.05pm.

The discovery was made near Braedale Crescent and an investigation was launched.

Detectives are not treating the man's death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 1.05pm on Monday, police were called to a lane close to Braedale Crescent in Wishaw where the body of a man was discovered.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
