A baby girl has been taken to hospital in Glasgow after suffering serious injuries.

The nine-month-old, named locally as Maira Ahmedas, is being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children.

She arrived at around 4pm on Friday from her home at Arnprior Road, Castlemilk.

Police say her condition is serious but stable and an investigation into the cause of her injuries is under way.

A spokesman for Police Scotland added: "We were informed of a nine-month-old baby having been admitted to the Royal Hospital for Children from her home on Friday.

"She is currently in a serious but stable condition and police enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
