Man and teenager killed after Audi careers off country road

A man and his teenage passenger have died after the Audi they were in careered off a country road.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the smash in Dumfries and Galloway at around 11pm on Thursday night.
The collision happened on the A710 Dumfries to New Abbey Road and the driver and passenger died as a result. The 25-year-old driver and his 19-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were forced to close the road for seven hours overnight while investigations got under way the crash seen was cleared.
A statement from Police Scotland said: "Around 11pm, an Audi A6 was travelling on the A710 towards Dumfries when it appears the vehicle lost control, near to Laneside Cottage, and left the road.
"Emergency services attended, however a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
"The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators conducted enquiries and examined the scene.
"Officers from Road Policing are appealing for any information and appealing to any motorists who may have been on that stretch of road around 11pm last night to contact them at Dumfries Police Office on 101."
