More fans have have been held over the Scottish Cup final pitch invasion, bringing the total number of arrests to 38.

Four men were arrested in dawn raids in Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Edinburgh on Thursday morning as police continue their hunt for those involved in the trouble at Hampden in May.

Thousands of Hibs fans flooded on to the pitch at the national stadium on May 21 to celebrate following their team's 3-2 win over Championship rivals Rangers.

A smaller number of fans of the Ibrox side also ran on to the pitch with some supporters from both sides involved in violent clashes.

Mounted police officers were called in to restore order after what the SFA described as "contemptible behaviour" from some supporters following the final whistle.

The men arrested this week are aged 23, 24, 46 and 50 and are detained in police custody. They are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

This latest operation brings the total number of arrests to 38. The men were arrested for alleged assaults and disorder.

Detective superintendent Kenny Graham, who is leading the investigation, said: "This investigation is extensive and involves a significant number of people.

"My officers remain committed to identifying and arresting those involved in the violence and disorder that occurred on May 21.

"As our investigation progresses, there will be further arrests and continued police action to track down those responsible.

"I would ask if anyone has any information or knowledge about people involved or for anyone with information, including footage or images, to contact us."
