A woman has disappeared after travelling around 85 miles in a taxi to Glasgow.

Katie Lambert, 30, was last seen leaving her father's house in the seaside town of Stranraer, Wigtownshire, on the early hours of Tuesday morning.

She got in a taxi from the house in the town's Fairway area at 2.10am before heading on a two hour and 85-mile trip to Glasgow.

It is understood the taxi drove her to Bothwell Street in the city centre, where she was dropped off at around 4.10am. However, the young woman has not been seen since.

Ms Lambert is described as 5ft 5in tall, of slim build and with bleached blonde hair. She was wearing a grey cardigan, a white T-shirt, black trousers or leggings and black slip-on shoes. She was also carrying a black suitcase with red or pink stripes."

Constable Mark Fern from Stranraer Police Office said: "It is not known why Katie decided to travel to the Glasgow area however enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises Katie or who has any information on her whereabouts to contact officers on 101."
