
Bomb squad remove unexploded wartime device from park
An area around the River Kelvin in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow, was sealed off on Sunday night.
The bomb squad has removed a wartime anti-aircraft explosive device from a river in a busy city park.
A member of the public discovered the wartime device in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow, on Sunday evening.
Police and explosives experts were called to the scene at around 7.25pm and sealed off an area around the River Kelvin.
The unexploded device was discovered by a member of the public due to low water level and was taken to a quarry by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to be destroyed.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 7.25pm on Sunday a member of the public found an old anti-aircraft device in the River Kelvin in Kelvingrove Park.
"Explosives Ordnance Disposal attended and removed the device from the river."
