Appeal for information after 'targeted gun attack'
A vehicle was damaged in what police called a 'brazen' attack in Hamilton on Sunday morning.
Police are appealing for information after an incident in Hamilton involving gunfire in the early hours of Sunday.
Nobody was hurt but a nearby vehicle was damaged in what police have described as a "targeted attack".
Officers were called to the disturbance in William Drive, Hamilton, at around 12:20am on Sunday morning.
Police determined on the scene that a weapon had been discharged.
Detective inspector Kevin Jamieson from Lanarkshire CID said: "Enquiries are at a very early stage in determining the circumstances surrounding this incident, however, at this time we believe this was a targeted attack.
"We know that a gun was fired at around 0020 hours resulting in a nearby vehicle sustaining damage. No one was injured as a result.
"We will not tolerate such brazen criminality in our communities. I want to reassure those who live locally that we are doing all we can to trace the person or persons responsible."
Mr Jamieson added: "Detectives are analysing available CCTV and we are conducting significant door to door enquiries in an effort to gather more information. Please approach officers in the area with any information you may have."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton CID on 101, or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously.
