Firefighters have rescued two residents after a blaze broke out at a flat in Glasgow.

A man suffered severe smoke inhalation during the fire in Allison Street, Glasgow around 6am on Saturday.

Fire crews were called to the scene and found a second-floor flat on fire, with people unaccounted for.

They used breathing gear to search the building and bring the fire under control.

The man was rescued and taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by ambulance, while another resident was rescued by ladder and treated at the scene.

An investigation has now been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
