A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car on a road by the banks of Loch Lomond.

The biker was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident on the A82 north of Luss around 12.15pm on Thursday.

Two men aged 31 and 32 who were passengers in the car were taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where they are being treated. No one else was injured, a police spokeswoman said.

The road was closed in both directions between the A811 at Balloch and Tarbet to allow for a police investigation, with a 72-mile diversion put in place.

Constable Hugh Niccolls from the Road Policing Unit is calling for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "There were other cars driving on the A82 around the time of this incident and it is important we speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, or has information that will assist our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the Road Policing Unit based at Dumbarton on 101.
