MoD building hit by major IT meltdown twice in a week
Hundreds of staff at Kentigern House in Glasgow sent home early on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A Ministry of Defence building in Glasgow has been hit by an IT meltdown twice in a week.
Hundreds of workers at the army personnel base on Brown Street in the city centre were sent home early on Tuesday and Wednesday after the building was struck by a major computer failure.
Engineers are currently working around at clock at Kentigern House to try to fix the problem.
The incident comes days after emergency services cordoned off a street outside the building after a barrel of chemicals was discovered outside.
It was, however, deemed it posed no threat after checks were carried out.
An army spokeswoman said it was confident the issue would be resolved on Thursday and steps have been taken to allow the most important "business functions" to continue.
"There are currently IT problems affecting all business units within Kentigern House," she said.
"Engineers are currently working on the problem and are confident the issue will be resolved today. Steps have been taken to ensure critical business functions continue.
"Staff have worked throughout, however, were sent home slightly earlier than normal on Tuesday and Wednesday this week."
