Man killed in Rutherglen digger crash named by police

A man killed in a crash involving a car and a tractor towing a digger has been named by police.
Francis Thomas Mooney, 60, died in the incident in Rutherglen on the outskirts of Glasgow on Tuesday morning.
Police have not revealed details of the nature of the crash but reports have suggested the digger toppled and landed on top of the car Mr Mooney was driving.
The 25-year-old man driving the tractor suffered serious injuries and is in a stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Five more cars and a bus were also involved in the incident, on Fernhill Road at 11.05am, but officers said those occupants escaped serious injury and none of the vehicles was badly damaged.
Sergeant Alison McAuley said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of this tragic incident and I would continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the divisional road policing unit based at Motherwell on 101."
Relatives have been made aware and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
