Drivers trying to get into Glasgow city centre could face rush hour delays due to an unsafe manhole.

Motorists using King George V Bridge to cross the river from the south will be pushed into a bottleneck as busy Oswald Street is reduced from two lanes into one on Friday morning.

A spokesperson for Glasgow's traffic management body Traffcom said: "One lane is closed on Oswald Street at the junction with Broomielaw.

"The eastbound nearside lane on Broomielaw is closed on the approach to the junction at Oswald Street.

"The lane closure is a result of an unsafe carriageway inspection cover."

Scottish Power, which is responsible for the metal road plate has been contacted to carry out repairs but it is expected delays will continue through Friday morning.
