Police are to revisit the scene of a bank raid which saw £10,000 stolen as security guards transferred cash.

Two men, armed with weapons and wearing blue overalls and masks, smashed their way into a Santander bank in Argyll in the early hours of Wednesday, April 6.

G4S gurds were threatened and the two men made off with a cash box.

Officers will be at the scene of the incident in West princes Street, Helensburgh between 11pm on Tuesday until around 2am on Wednesday.

Police will try to reconstruct the series of events during the raid, and will also stop passers-by in order to jog memories and obtain new information.

Detective inspector Alistair Davidson, of Argyll and West Dunbartonshire CID, said: "Enquiries have been progressing and I would like to thank those who have taken the time to contact us with information.

"Officers are continuing to appeal for a number of people who we understand were in the public car park in Sinclair Street, which is just off West Princes Street where the attack took place. We continue to appeal to those people who were in the area between 12midnight and 1am as they may have information which could assist with our enquiries.

"We also now understand that high performance vehicles may have been used by the suspects to escape from the area. You may have heard the sound of engines revving in and around West Princes Street between 12midnight and 1am.

"One week on, we hope that a significant presence in West Princes Street, interviewing those passing by and reconstructing events as we understand them currently, could help open up new lines of enquiry to trace the men responsible.

"No matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact us with any information you have. It may not seem like much to you, but as part of our larger investigation, your information could be critical in tracing the person responsible."
