A woman has been raped in a late-night sex attack in a park in Glasgow.

The 37-year-old victim was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Queen's Park in the south side of the city on March 30.

Police have launched a major investigation and a section of the park just off Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands has been sealed off since around 11pm on Wednesday after they received information on the incident.

Officers say the investigation is at an early stage and no description of the attacker has been established yet. They have urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A police investigation is continuing in relation to a 37-year-old woman being seriously sexually assaulted on the evening of March 30 in Queen's Park, Glasgow.

"Inquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"At this time we would ask anyone who was in Queen's Park after 11pm who witnessed the attack or anyone acting suspiciously to contact London Road Police Office on 101."
