A pregnant woman has been taken to hospital after a five-car crash on the M80.

One lane of the road was left blocked between junctions three and four by the crash at 6.50am on Thursday.

The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution but nobody is believed to have been seriously injured.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "There has been a five-car collision on the M80 near junction four northbound.

"The road is being cleared and there doesn't appear to be any serious congestion. It happened at 6.50am.

"One woman has been taken to hospital as a precaution."
