A lorry fire has forced the partial closure of a motorway.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the blaze at around 10.30am on the M74.

A section of the motorway near Lockerbie has been closed in both direction by police due to thick smoke while firefighters deal with the incident.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "We are currently dealing with a HGV fire on the M74 northbound near Lockerbie.

"As a result of the fire we have temporarily closed the M74 northbound and southbound carriageway.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "Route *CLOSED* both directions due to thick smoke from HGV fire #BeAware."
