A man has appeared in court charged with brandishing machetes and throwing one at another person near a school.

Mohammed Bhutta, 27, allegedly assaulted Elliot Roberts on Hill Street, Glasgow, near St Aloysius College on March 18.

Prosecutors claim he presented a machete at Mr Roberts, pursued him and threw the item at him.

He also faces a charge of possessing two machetes and a charge of resisting arrest by police officers on Renfrew Street, Glasgow.

Bhutta faces a further charge of committing a breach of peace on a number of streets in the area including Hill Street, Dalhousie Street, Rose Street and Renfrew Street.

It is alleged he brandished two machetes while wearing a scarf over his face.

He appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday where he made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

He will appear again next week for a full committal hearing.
