A man has been charged with murder after the discovery of a camper's body in a Renfrewshire river.

Darryl Fitch, from Paisley, was found in Locher Water in Bridge of Weir on July 13 last year.

The 43-year-old is believed to have been camping in the area with a friend, who was injured during the same incident.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Following our previous appeals in relation to the murder of 43-year-old Darryl Fitch in Bridge of Weir, a 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged and will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, March 9.”
