Former Celtic midfielder charged with attempted manslaughter
Evander Sno and two family members will also accused of aggravated assault in Amsterdam.
Former Celtic midfielder Evander Sno is to appear in a Dutch court next week charged with aggravated assault and attempted manslaughter.
Sno and two of his family members are accused of severely beating two men during a brawl that took place in Amsterdam in 2013.
The 28-year-old has publicly denied the charges, insisting he had tried to break up the fight and was not involved in the attack.
The prosecution, however, believe the nature of the attack to have been so severe as to merit a charge of attempted manslaughter.
Sno arrived at Celtic from Feyenoord in 2006 as one of Gordon Strachan's first signings, going on to make 30 appearances for the club over two seasons.
An unsuccessful return to the Netherlands at Ajax was followed by a loan move to Bristol City during the 2009-10 season.
In 2010, Sno collapsed during an Ajax reserve match after suffering a cardiac arrest, having to be revived three times with a defibrillator.
After making a full recovery, Sno earned himself a move to Dutch club NEC after a string of impressive performances.
In 2012, he suffered a second heart attack on the pitch and has moved from club to club in the Netherlands since.
