Elderly man seriously injured after being knocked down crossing road

An elderly man is seriously injured in hospital after a car ploughed into him as he crossed a busy road.
The 69-year-old pedestrian was struck by a Suzuki Swift as he crossed a main road in the south side of Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the city's Pollokshaws Road at around 5.35pm.
The man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to a serious head injury. Medical staff describe his condition as serious. The female driver was not injured.
Police are investigating the collision and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
A statement from Police Scotland said: "Around 5.35pm on Sunday, a 69-year-old man was struck by a Suzuki Swift car as he crossed Pollokshaws Road, near to Haggs Road, in Glasgow.
"The 69-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for a serious head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious. The 48-year-old female driver was uninjured.
"Sergeant Nicky Taylor at the Road Policing Complex would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101."
