Scotland's Johnny Russell has said that he isn't fazed by making trans-Atlantic trips for Scotland duty and wouldn't do anything to put further caps at risk.

Russell has been in form in MLS, starring for Sporting Kansas City and that has put him in contention for Nations League starts against Albania and Israel.

While a raft of withdrawals from international duty have raised questions about overall commitment to Alex McLeish's team, Russell has said that the long journey to join up with the squad is no problem for him.

THe attacker insisted there's no way he would do anything to risk not adding to his eight caps and that absence from the Scotland set-up had only increased his desire to play for his country.

"I feel good," he said. "I am used to [the travel] now.

"The facilities and the sports science... it is not a problem.

"I was out of the squad for so long, I said I would do anything to be back in.

"People have brought up the distance before but I have said there isn't a distance that I wouldn't travel to come back and play for my country.

"It is five hours for me. It can be difficult to travel, especially when you have been doing it all season but I spent so long out of the squad I would never do anything to jeopardise it again."
