Stuart Hogg is one of six additions to Scotland's Autumn Tests squad by head coach Gregor Townsend.

The influential full-back looked set to miss the Scots' November fixtures after undergoing surgery on his ankle in September.

But Hogg has now made his return to the national set-up for the Murrayfield matches against Fiji, South Africa and Argentina.

Scotland's forward coach Danny Wilson said the 26-year-old will be assessed before this Saturday's match against Fiji.

Wilson said: "There are still a few boxes to tick, a few decisions to make on that. But he has made really good progress.

"He is ahead of schedule so we will see how he goes the rest of this week."

Hogg is one of four Warriors players to be called up by Townsend, with Adam Ashe, Scott Cummings and Nick Grigg also joining the squad.

Sale Sharks back-row Josh Strauss and Worcester Warriors stand-off Duncan Weir have also been drafted in following a series of injuries.

Scarlets' Blade Thomson and Harlequins' James Lang suffered injuries on club duty at the weekend, while Leicester Tigers' David Denton and Edinburgh's Matt Scott are to recover from head injuries back at their respective clubs.

Edinburgh trio Ross Ford, Henry Pyrgos and Dougie Fife have also returned to Richard Cockerill's Pro14 side, the national team has confirmed.

Scotland lost their Autumn Tests opener in Cardiff, going down 21-10 to Wales.
