Josh Taylor: That was my most complete performance so far
The Scot says he is "super confident" that he can win the IBF title in his next fight.
Josh Taylor has said that fans saw his best performance yet in the win over Ryan Martin and insisted he is going to take a world title in his next fight.
The Prestonpans boxer stopped Ryan Martin in the seventh round of their World Boxing Super Series fight on Saturday with the 27-year old super lightweight untroubled by the American throughout.
Taylor was in complete control as he found success with head and body shots before referee Victor Loughlin called an end to the contest at Glasgow's SSE Hydro.
Victory put the Scot into the semi-final of the competition, where he will fight Ivan Baranchyk with the Belarusian's IBF world title on the line. Taylor, who will be aiming to take the belt in only his 15th proefessional fight, says he showed his best against Martin and can step up to the next level.
"I'm super confident," he said. "I never got out of second gear. I felt I had a lot more to come.
"I probably could have got him out earlier if I'd really put my foot on the gas. I felt I didn't need to. I was boxing nicely and didn't need to rush.
"That was my best performance yet. I felt great and everything was flowing effortlessly. My speed, my power, distance control, all cylinders were firing perfectly. I felt relaxed.
"I was surprised how easy it was. I was absolutely delighted with the performance and the atmosphere was the best I've experienced. It was so loud, the reception I got was unbelievable."
Kalle Sauerland, the promoter behind World Boxing Super Series, says Taylor's performance will have won him new fans and caught the eye of America.
He said: "It was the first time I watched Josh Taylor live. What can I say? Sensational.
"Josh has sent out a strong message across the pond, that's for sure.
"I'm sure there will be a few trainers and boxers looking at that performance and wondering how the heck they can handle that.
"I knew he was good. I didn't realise he was that good.
"It's going to be a cracking fight with Ivan Baranchyk."
