Kilmarnock's Gary Dicker reckons teammate Greg Stewart could potentially solve Scotland's current crisis in attack.

National team boss Alex McLeish has been left with a selection headache ahead of the crucial double-header against Albania and Israel.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths currently remains out of action, while Hearts' Steven Naismith is also sidelined for the next couple of months.

Stewart has come into contention for a call-up after bagging four goals in eight matches since moving to Killie on loan.

And Irishman Dicker reckons it would come as no surprise if the Birmingham loanee was given the nod.

He said: "Greg has been brilliant since he came in.

"Maybe coming to a club like this was the best thing for him.

"Last year he was a bit stop start at Aberdeen but he's come down here and we've got a really good group here at the moment.

"It's quite easy to fit in and get involved straight away. That's helped him settle in a bit quicker.

"We're playing to his strengths right now and you can see that from his performances so far, which have been great.

"It wouldn't surprise me if he did get a call up to the national team with the way he's been performing.

"He's playing well and scoring goals and Scotland don't have a lot of guys doing that at the minute, so he's got to be in the running and why not?"

Stewart is to miss Killie's next two matches after the forward's two-game suspension for violent conduct was upheld.

Manager Steve Clarke - who himself was handed a suspended two-game ban last week following comments he made about governing body's appeal process - said the process had left him confused.

He said: "I find the whole process to be confusing and it's confusing because it's inconsistent and that's all I've got to say."
