Townsend opts for experience in first Autumn Test side
The Scotland coach has named his squad for the match against Wales.
Gregor Townsend has rung the changes in his Scotland team to face Wales, bringing back a raft of experienced players for the first of the Autumn Tests.
Just four of the players from the starting line-up that faced Argentina in the summer retain their place, with Townsend restoring players who were rested or injured for the summer tour. However, there is also new blood in the shape of Edinburgh's Darcy Graham who is named on the bench.
Hooker Stuart McInally returns as captain alongside front-row Allan Dell. Adam Hastings and Blair Kinghorn are the other two players keeping their places, at stand-off and full-back.
That pair are joined in the back row by five Glasgow Warriors players. Wingers Tommy Seymour and Lee Jones, centres Huw Jones, Alex Dunbar and scrum-half Ali Price all bring know-how to the side..
Jonny Gray (lock) , Willem Nel (prop), Hamish Watson and Ryan Wilson (back-row) return to the pack, alongside lock Ben Toolis and back-row Jamie Ritchie.
"We've had a productive two weeks, both in St Andrews and Edinburgh, and the players have worked hard to put our game into place," Townsend said.
"As always we expect a very tough Test match against Wales in Cardiff - a contest that will be physically and technically demanding in a noisy arena.
"It's a challenge we look forward to facing."
