McIntyre: Dundee need to find solidity against Celtic
The manager says improvement will take time but players have to keep working.
Dundee boss Jim McIntyre says it will take time for him to make his mark on the team after replacing Neil McCann but called on his players to be solid and disciplined against Celtic on Wednesday.
McIntyre has seen his side suffer back-to-back defeats in his two games in charge but has insisted that things will improve over time. However, with champions Celtic visiting Dens Park he said concentration will be vital in the short-term.
The manager has bemoaned his side's defending so far but stressed that the players have his backing as he looks to improve their performances.
"There will be time needed," he said. "Players are getting used to me as I am them.
"The first couple of games we were up against two of the form teams in the league and now we are facing the champions.
"We know how difficult a game it is going to be.
"It is important that the players try to take the messages on as quickly as possibly can.
"It is also important that they know they have my support and they have to keep on doing the right thing and trying to do the right thing. That's important for me."
Celtic go into the game on the back of a 3-0 League Cup semi-final win over Hearts. McIntyre was in the stand to see their victory but says he'll try to implement what he learned from Hearts' resilience before the first goal.
"Any time you face Celtic it is a really tough challenge, " he said.
"They seem to have their mojo back in terms of playing free-flowing football.
"I was at the game on Sunday and for 60 minutes Hearts had a really solid shape and made it difficult for Celtic and that is something that we are going to need to have. Celtic constantly pose you questions and the concentration levels are so important."
