Celtic's 11 Premiership rivals are each to be handed a £370,000 windfall on Thursday thanks to their Champions League run last season.

By reaching the group stages of the competition last time out, Brendan Rodgers' side received a huge financial boost.

Qualification also secured each of their top-flight opponents from last campaign their share of a £4m "solidarity payment".

It's the second year on the trot that the Hoops' European run has led to a pot of over £4m being handed out by UEFA to Scottish Premiership teams.

Next season, clubs won't be in line for such a boost though after Celtic crashed out of qualifying for Europe's premier competition this time around.

Neil Doncaster, chief executive of the SPFL, said: "This is welcome news for the clubs involved in last year's Premiership.

"As well as clear financial benefits for top flight clubs, Scottish clubs performing well in European competition increases the league's profile, which is good for everyone."
