Scott Brown out for 'two to three weeks', says Rodgers
The Celtic captain faces a spell on the sidelines and will miss the League Cup semi-final.
Celtic could be without five first team starters for their Europa League clash with RB Leipzig as Scott Brown was ruled out for "two to three weeks".
The Celtic captain suffered a leg injury in the 4-2 win over Hibs on Saturday but the club had been hopeful that he would be for for the match in Germany.
However, Brown will miss the crucial European tie, while Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths failed to travel through injury. James Forrest is suspended for the match, while Filip Benkovic is doubtful.
"We have a few injuries," Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said. "Scott will be out for maybe the next two to three weeks, which of course is disappointing.
"It's a low-grade calf strain so we just have to see how that goes over the course of the next couple of weeks.
"We've got a few other players out. Leigh obviously hasn't returned to training yet so he's still out. Tom Rogic hasn't travelled. He's got an issue with his knee so we'll have a look at that when we get back.
"And we're managing Filip Benkovic so we'll see how Filip is over the next 24 hours."
Rodgers preferred to look at the positive side, saying that young stars would get a chance to shine in the absence of more senior players.
"So we've got one or two issues but it's okay," he said. "We've got a number of young players and other players that may have the opportunity over these next few games that have been training very hard and working very well to have an opportunity to play.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing them.
