Scotland U21s' Euro hopes dashed by Ukraine defeat
The young Scots let an early lead slip as their Euro 2019 qualification bid ended.
Scotland Under-21s' hopes of qualifying for Euro 2019 are over following a 3-1 defeat to Ukraine.
Victory in the Netherlands last month had reenergised the young Scots qualification campaign.
Going into Group D's penultimate round of fixtures, Scot Gemmill's side knew wins against both Ukraine and England would put them in line to clinch one of the best runners-up berths.
But the Scots fell at the first hurdle, letting an early lead slip as the Ukrainians fought back to beat Gemmill's youngsters for the second time in the group.
Scotland had led after just 53 seconds when Celtic winger Lewis Morgan fired home.
But two goals from Oleksandr Zubkov saw Ukraine come from behind to lead.
Shakhtar Donetsk starlet Viktor Kovalenko added a third in the dying moments to consign the Scots to defeat.
