Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones has been banned for two games after accepting a charge of diving to win a penalty.

The attacker went to ground in the box under close attention from Cammy Kerr with the score level at 1-1 in the match against Dundee on Saturday.

Referee Steven McLean awarded a penalty, which Killie scored to take three points. However, television footage suggested there may have been no contact between the players.

The issue was raised with the Scottish FA compliance officer and after three former refs agreed that "an act of simulation occurred", the player was charged, with a disciplinary hearing set for Thursday.

However, Jones has accepted the charge, meaning no hearing is necessary and a two-game suspension is applied with immediate effect.

The club say Jones maintains his innocence but they have no additional evidence to support their argument.

Following the match at Dens Park on Saturday, Dundee boss Neil McCann was furious at the decision to award the penalty and claimed Jones had admitted diving.

McCann said: "The defining thing for me was that he's told boys in my team he has taken a dive.

"To say I'm aggrieved is an understatement. I'm absolutely furious. My boys didn't deserve that.

"I've just watched it again and there's no contact. The decision was a disgrace and it's very hard for me to control my emotions."
