Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has slammed the "unfair" process that has seen his team's League Cup semi-final with Hearts moved to Murrayfield.

The Hoops were originally scheduled to take on the Jam Tarts at Hampden in a 7.45pm kick-off, hours after the midday last four match between Aberdeen and Rangers at the same venue.

But that plan has now been ripped up, with the SPFL moving Celtic v Hearts to the home of Scottish rugby and a 1.30pm kick-off.

Aberdeen v Rangers is to stay at Hampden but with a later kick-off time of 4.30pm to accommodate.

Rodgers called for greater transparency behind how it was decided the match between his team and Craig Levein's side would be the one to switch to the capital.

He said: "My initial reaction is I don't mind where we play, to be honest.

"My feeling would be I'd be disappointed with the process, I think it's unfair.

"Having the two games on the one day in the same venue didn't seem right for everyone so at least a decision has been made to take it away from Hampden.

"But then you have to be fair to all four teams and all four sets of supporters.

"People will have booked flights, boats, organised journeys and now it's changed to elsewhere.

"I just think it's an unfair process, it just feels like it's assumed Celtic and Hearts should go to Edinburgh."

Rodgers argued that Hearts will boast a home-field advantage having played at Murrayfield at the start of last season.

The Celtic boss said he'd assume his team would have the chance to get used to the surroundings at Scotland's home of rugby before taking to the field for the semi-final.

He added: "If we're talking about a neutral venue then it's certainly not neutral, with Hearts having played part of their season there last year.

"We're happy to be in the semi final but the process is unfair. I would assume we will have an option to train there before we play.

"If you could consider it was Hearts home ground for a period of months... I've never been to Murrayfield in my life so if we're having to go there I'd hope we'd at least have the possibility to train there before a semi-final.
