Souleymane Coulibaly has been given clearance to play for Partick Thistle.

The Jags had previously been unable to field the pacy striker after the Egyptian FA blocked his transfer.

But Coulibaly has now been given the green light to make his Thistle bow after FIFA rejected the refusal by granting him temporary international clearance.

The ex-Kilmarnock striker is now registered and available when Alan Archibald's side host Championship leaders Ross County this weekend.

Coulibaly moved to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in 2017 from Killie but the move quickly turned sour, with the attacker claiming he was badly treated and quitting the club.

A FIFA commission found in the Egyptian club's favour and awarded a fine, to be paid by Coulibaly. Al Ahly said the player would not be released to play for anyone else until the fine is paid.

Thistle signed the player in August, although they were not contracted to pay him until the situation was resolved.

Egypt's governing body refused to budge on their stance over Coulibaly, blocking his move to Firhill.

However, the SFA asked FIFA to step in and the player has now eventually received clearance.
