Alex McLeish happy to have Scotland striker dilemma
Alex McLeish praised Leigh Griffiths for playing his way back into contention.
Alex McLeish has said he's happy to have a selection headache as the Scotland boss mulls over which of his in-form strikers to hand the number nine jersey.
Hearts attacker Steven Naismith grabbed his chance after stepping in to lead the line in the Nations League opener against Albania, playing an instrumental role in the Scots' opener and scoring the second.
McLeish said after the 2-0 win Naismith was his first-choice frontman, prompting Leigh Griffiths to claim he felt like he'd been "kicked in the teeth".
Since then, Griffiths has forced his way back into Brendan Rodgers' Celtic starting 11 and found himself back amongst the goals.
That hot streak has impressed McLeish enough to insist Naismith's starting spot is far from guaranteed.
On Griffiths, he said: "He's done his talking on the field and that's all you can ask for.
"At the last press conference we questioned where the goals were going to come from.
"Now, Leigh has been firing the goals in and McBurnie has been in decent form.
"It's good to talk about the guys scoring goals and now we want them to be prolific in a Scotland jersey.
"It's great to have difficult decisions."
He added: "I think somebody said Steven Naismith was guaranteed to play in the next game but that is not the case.
"As I said, 'prove yourself guys'. Naismith is in good form, Griffiths is in good form, McBurnie is back in, it augurs well.
Asked if he could play with two up-front, he added: "It's not inconceivable they could play together, depending on the formation that we choose.
"It gives me a problem, a happy problem, long may they continue to score goals."
