Great Britain handed wildcard into 2019 Davis Cup finals
The British team and Argentina have been awarded wildcards for next year's tournament.
Great Britain have been handed a wildcard entry into the 2019 Davis Cup finals.
The British team and Argentina - the last two champions not involved in the 2018 final - were selected by the Davis Cup Steering Committee for wildcards into next year's revamped competition.
Great Britain won its tenth title in 2015, while Argentina captured its first Davis Cup one year later.
With the format of the tournament changing, the two wildcard entrants will be joined by 2018's four semi-finalists - Croatia, France, Spain, USA - and the 12 winners of February's 2019 qualifiers for the finals.
Earlier this month, the British quintet shrugged off the absence of Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund to defeat Uzbekistan 3-1 in a Glasgow play-off match.
Victory secured Leon Smith's team a seeded spot for the draw for next year's tournament. That seeding has now been passed on, however, with the Brits not needing to partake in February's qualifiers.
That additional time off gives Scottish star Andy Murray further recuperation time as the former world number one continues his rehabilitation from hip surgery.
The 31-year-old is to take the rest of this year off to focus on training after competing in two tournaments in China.
Murray has progressed to the second round of the Shenzen Open. Once his run comes to an end he will shift focus to Beijing, before calling time on competitive action for the season.
