Raith Rovers have announced John McGlynn as their new manager.

McGlynn has left his role as a Celtic scout to return to Stark's Park and the club with whom he enjoyed the most successful period of his management career to date.

The 56-year-old won PFA Manager of the Year after guiding the Kirkaldy outfit towards a First Division title challenge in 2011.

After leaving Rovers in 2012 following a relegation battle, McGlynn took over at Hearts. His spell in charge at Tynecastle proved short-lived, though, with the Scot leaving after less than a year in charge.

A stint in charge of Livingston followed, before he took up his most recent position as a scout for the Scottish champions.

McGlynn and assistant Paul Smith, who also makes his Raith comeback, have penned a deal until the summer of 2020.

Raith's new boss told the club's website: "I am relishing the challenge of getting Raith Rovers back to the SPFL Championship, and in particular working with full time players as we strive to progress the club to the next level.

I am delighted that Paul Smith has agreed to join me in this exciting phase in the clubs history"
