New Celtic signing Daniel Arzani has said a chat with Brendan Rodgers about the club's support helped sell him on a move to Glasgow.

The Australian teenager has just signed for Manchester City but has been loaned to Celtic for two seasons.

Though other clubs were interested in taking the player on after his appearances at the World Cup this summer, he said a personal connection with Brendan Rodgers helped convince him that the move was right for his development.

Arzani also spoke to compatriot Tom Rogic before making a decision but said Rodgers talked up the appeal of Celtic's history and support.

"To be honest, it wasn't so much the football that he spoke about," he said. "It was more about the club and the tradition and the fan base behind the club and the support that the players get.

"He was also just one of the first managers that I talked to and I just got along with as a person. He's a really nice guy."

The 19-year old comes with a burgeoning reputation and is looking to improve under Rodgers' guidance. He said he aims to challenge for a place on the left wing and will look to take on defenders at every opportunity.

"I'm here for two seasons... at least," he said. "My focus is just to come here and develop as a player and try to win as much as I can with the club.

"I think personally my best position is as a left winger. I think the gaffer sees eye to eye with me on that as well.

"If you've watched any of my games then you know that I'm very direct. I like to dribble and take the ball on.

"I like to think I'm good at it.

"I just try to be creative and do the first thing that comes to mind."
