Clarke: New season brings new mentality to Kilmarnock
Steve Clarke dismissed the long-term impact of previous positive results against Rangers.
Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke said his side have to refresh their mindset for the season to come as last campaign's results no longer have a real impact.
The Rugby Park side host Rangers on Sunday in the second round of the League Cup.
Kilmarnock enjoyed positive results against their Ibrox counterparts last season, winning twice in the league against the Light Blues.
Clarke, however, believes those wins will have no lingering effect given the changes at both sides over the summer.
He said: "New season, different mentality about the game so we'll wait and see what we get.
"If we can reach the level of performance we know we are capable of it should be a good game.
"The mentality is always to be competitive, but it's a different mentality to last season as it is a completely new season.
"Rangers are a different team, we are a different team, we've lost one or two players from last year and brought in one or two to help us.
"So it is completely different to last year, there is no point looking back to last year and what happened then."
