Rangers progress in Europa League after Maribor draw
The Light Blues drew 0-0 in Slovenia to book their place in the play-off round.
Rangers have defeated Maribor 3-1 on aggregate to progress to the Europa League qualification play-off round.
The hosts had chances to claw back the deficit, but Allan McGregor was in inspired form as Steven Gerrard's side held firm to hold out for a 0-0 draw.
McGregor produced a spectacular save to deny Maribor a first-half opener from an audacious Amir Dervišević free-kick.
The veteran stopper then made a point-blank save from Tavares halfway through the second period, before saving a late penalty to seal Rangers' qualification.
Daniel Candeias and Alfredo Morelos went close for Rangers after half-time as Gerrard's side sought a crucial away goal.
Those chances were spurned but didn't prove costly as McGregor denied Maribor a route back into the game.
