Hibs head coach Neil Lennon said his side's 'mature' display in the 0-0 draw had left Molde with 'plenty to think' about ahead of the second leg in Norway.

The Premiership side were held to a goalless draw at Easter Road by Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's visitors after chances were spurned at both ends of the park.

David Gray went closest to striking for Lennon's side but the skipper's header found the post.

Lennon said: "It was a good game, the only tinge of disappointment is we don't take a lead over there.

"We played very maturely and were unlucky, the keeper has made some great saves.

"Molde were very good in possession and knew how to take the sting out of the game.

"But we are still in the tie and I'm pleased about that.

"We know we'll have to score over there but Molde will have to score as well.

"0-0 can be a negative and a positive, I'm delighted with the clean sheet.

"The tie is in the balance but we looked the team more likely to score.

"It's a really good performance, with some strong individual performances.

"I thought Mallan was outstanding.

He added: "They are comfortable on the ball, we flagged a bit towards the end which was understandable.

"But we'll be a week fitter and determined to make our mark."

With Jamie Maclaren and Flo Kamberi rekindling their strike partnership at the club, Lennon is confident Hibs can find the net in Norway.

He continued: "I don't see why not. We'll have to defend well and keep our concentration then try and pick them off.

"I don't want us to just sit in and try to defend, I believe we can score.

"There is plenty for them to think about."

Lennon, who said Hibs are in talks over two more additions to their squad following John McGinn's transfer to Aston Villa, picked out midfielder Mallan for praise.

The former St Mirren star was influential in the first half in particular, striking the crossbar with a fizzing effort and going close with two other shots from range.

Lennon added: "He was brilliant, so unlucky not to score and his quality on the ball was terrific.

"He has been a huge source of encouragement since he came in."
