You may have picked up the rise in decibels from south of the border as England's transfer window nears its deadline and the early close could have repercussions in Scotland.

English Premier League sides need to have their inbound business done by tomorrow and Brighton are keen to add to their squad with a move for James Tavernier.

The Rangers full-back has been made captain by Steven Gerrard but, with every player having their price, the Ibrox club could have a decision to make if the price is right. Teammate Josh Windass is another who could be on the move, linked with Ipswich after the Championship club's previous success shopping in Scotland.

It's not just about the exits at Ibrox though, with a bid apparently in for striker Elvir Koljic and interest in his compatriot Armin Hodzic also serious.

The market closing down south could have other repercussions with players at English clubs finding themselves crowded out by new arrivals or facing no realistic prospect of making the first team. That might mean Jason Denayer being open to a return to Celtic and there are reports a move for the Belgian is likely.

The centre-back isn't the only former Celtic player being linked with a Glasgow return with reports that Emilio Izaguirre could be heading back to Parkhead as cover for Kieran Tierney.

And speaking of players a return to Scotland, Hearts are one of a number of clubs said to be in the chase to sign Manchester United's Demetri Mitchell.
