Scottish Premiership 2018/19: Golden boot preview
We take a closer look at the players likely to be in the race for the golden boot.
The new Premiership campaign gets under way this weekend.
Here we look at some of the contenders to top the goalscorer's chart this season.
Kris Boyd emerged top of the pile in the top-flight goalscoring charts last season with 18 goals.
Incredibly, it was the fifth time he had managed the feat, but at 34 years of age, his resurgence in form surprised many.
Although with the veteran's pedigree in front of goal, perhaps it should come as a shock to nobody.
Boyd's phenomenal record even sees him sit third in the post-war top flight goals list with 220, four short of catching Lisbon Lion Willie Wallace and 40 shy of catching Ally McCoist who notched an incredible 260.
There's time yet for Boyd who has undergone a stunning revival in form following the arrival of Steve Clarke arrived at Rugby Park in October.
Premiership defences will have to be on guard against the frontman who has already bagged a match-winning hat-trick in the League Cup last month.
Morelos made an electric start to his first season in Scotland before suffering a blip in form later in the campaign.
The striker finished runner-up on the goalscoring charts but managed just one goal in his last twelve appearances of the 2017/18 Premiership.
However, the Colombian hasn't shown signs of carrying that apparent lack of confidence into the new season.
The 21-year-old netted a vital winner in Croatia to help Rangers progress in the Europa League and has been backed by new manager Steven Gerrard to be an important player in the season ahead.
Prior to his arrival at Ibrox, Morelos netted 47 goals in 62 appearances for HJK Helsinki, and with the new arrivals of players at Rangers, this could be a big year for the Colombian looking to recapture that stunning form.
If Moussa Dembele manages to overcome his niggling injuries, expect this man to be challenging for top spot.
In a season where Celtic secured their historic double treble, none of their players finished in the top five of the goalscorer's charts and a large part of that was down to the absence of the Frenchman.
Injuries were a regular feature of Dembele's campaign but he still managed to strike nine League goals for the Scottish champions.
The young striker has already displayed his prowess this term after he notched a double in their Champions League qualifier against Alashkert but worryingly a hamstring injury curtailed his evening.
If the 22-year-old manages to stay injury-free, he poses an enormous threat to defences and could link-up with Odsonne Edouard to form a formidable partnership.
Celtic's record signing and a frightening prospect for Premiership defences with a full season under his belt now.
The Frenchman enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Parkhead last season, matching Dembele's return of nine league goals, with 10 of his 22 appearances coming from the bench.
Edouard showed he was a man for the big occasion with three Old Firm goals in two matches and after transferring to Celtic Park permanently, the striker has carried on where he left off.
The 20-year-old ensured Celtic's passageway to the next round of Champions League qualification bagging a double in their home victory over Rosenborg.
With a big-price tag come big expectations but Edouard looks like a man who can deliver.
Another loan signing that had to be made permanent.
Kamberi joined Hibs on-loan in January and hit red-hot form with nine goals in the league.
His impressive performances led to the front-man penning a three-year-deal at Easter Road and it's already looking like one of the best deals of the summer transfer window.
After making the move from Grasshopper Zurich permanent, the 23-year-old has hit a hat-trick against Faroese side NSI Runavik and a crucial last-minute winner against Asteras Tripolis.
The Swiss striker is a strong contender to be challenging for the golden boot.
Speculation surrounds the striker's future but one thing is for certain - he knows how to score goals.
In a Hearts team short of options last term, the Northern Irishman managed 12 Premiership goals - his record tally in the Scottish top flight.
With thirteen new arrivals at Tynecastle, including ex-Rangers teammate Steven Naismith, the 30-year-old should expect better service this time around and will be intent on eclipsing last seasons efforts.
In his previous spell in Scotland, Lafferty netted goals on the day Rangers won each of their three titles in a row under Walter Smith, and managed three goals against Celtic last season. Add that to his 20 international goals and you've got a striker who thrives under pressure.
He has been linked with a return to Ibrox but whether he stays or goes, expect Lafferty to be in or around the top strikers in Scotland.
After a disappointing return last season, the Aberdeen striker will be eager to make his mark.
Big things were expected of May when he returned to Scotland after a spell down south with Preston North End but a succession of injuries disrupted his influence in the North-East.
The 25-year-old knows what's required in the Scottish top-flight having enjoyed a prolific spell with St Johnstone five years ago.
In the 2013/14 season he netted 20 times for the Saints, incredibly seeing him only finish joint fourth with Anthony Stokes, behind Kris Boyd and John Sutton on 22, and seven goals behind Kris Commons.
May will be hoping to replicate that form as the departure of Adam Rooney indicates he could be the main man at Pittodrie.
Perhaps a long shot to finish top of the pile, but don't rule the bulky striker out.
Motherwell have strengthened their squad and will hope to give their powerful frontman plenty of ammunition this year.
In January, Main arrived from Portsmouth replacing fan favourite Louis Moult and the big striker hit the ground running with eight goals in all competitions.
On the Lanarkshire side's run to the Scottish Cup final, the 26-year-old netted once in the quarter-final before grabbing a memorable double in their semi victory over Aberdeen - proving he's a man for the big occasion.
At 38, and with Miller combining playing and managerial duties at newly-promoted Livingston, it's fair to say this one is a bit of a stretch.
However, the former Scotland international has won the golden boot before, when he scored 21 goals in the 2010-11 season for Rangers.
Infact, he's won every major trophy there is in Scotland, including winning the title for both Celtic and Rangers, so there's certainly no lack of experience.
And he will be eager to make up for a torrid campaign last season after he managed to fall foul of both Pedro Caixinha and latterly Graeme Murty.
As he takes the managerial reigns for the first time, this could be one of the last years we see him in a playing capacity and nobody will be more fired up than Miller to get on the scoresheet.
